Creative

A music video that premiered on BET, held #1 for six straight weeks, and earned a national Viewer’s Choice nomination.

Micah Stampley’s first gospel album debuted at #3 on Billboard’s gospel charts—the second-highest debut in Billboard history for a male gospel artist. The Stampleys found Taylor through a Google search and connected immediately. The result was the “I Believe” music video, which premiered on BET’s “Lift Every Voice” and dominated Gospel Music Channel’s countdown for six consecutive weeks.

“He is the most detailed and concise person that I’ve worked with, period. Most people are not that detailed. I love it.”

“I Believe” — Micah Stampley · Remastered

Micah Stampley’s impressive range and soulful tone have won him fans worldwide and sent him to perform across the U.S., London, and Paris. In spring 2005, his first gospel album debuted at #3 on Billboard’s gospel charts, making it the second-highest debut in Billboard’s history for a male gospel artist.

At the release of his sophomore album, A Fresh Wind — The Second Sound, Stampley and his songwriting partner and wife, Heidi, decided to seek out a production company for a music video highlighting his upcoming single “I Believe.” By simply executing a Google search, Micah and Heidi came across samples of Taylor Gahm’s previous work and scheduled a meeting. The first time they sat down together, the Stampleys connected with Gahm right away. Heidi said the decision to collaborate was an easy one due to the warmth, talent, and vision of the director.

On the designated day of the video shoot, Heidi said Gahm’s preparation and professionalism shined: “He had timelines, itineraries and contact lists with information for everyone involved. Everyone was moving in synch.” She added: “We really appreciated his attention to detail. He was very detailed and didn’t miss a thing; organized, streamlined, moved quickly. Everything was planned to a T, from the crew, to the caterers, to the extra hands.”

Even after the video shoot, Taylor was constantly communicating with the Stampleys to keep them informed about the editing process and the date of delivery. The “I Believe” music video officially premiered on BET’s “Lift Every Voice” and spent six straight weeks in the #1 spot on Gospel Music Channel’s video countdown. It also received a Viewer’s Choice Video of the Year nomination by Gospel Music Channel, which reaches nearly 40 million households nationwide. “We were blown away by the success of the video,” Heidi says. “Taylor certainly was the ‘mind behind the vision.’”

Postscript

We met working together. Six months later, Micah was singing at our wedding — as a friend.

On set, 2007 · Stephanie’s first trip to Houston — and her first time on one of my sets.

Micah and I didn’t know each other before this shoot. We were introduced by a record producer who thought we’d get along. We became fast friends on set — and within six months he was singing at our wedding. Not as a client. Not as a performer. As a friend.

Stephanie and I were dating when we shot “I Believe.” It was her first trip to Houston to meet my family and her first time on one of my sets. I’d never had a #1 on the cable TV charts before. I’ve had one since. I think we know the secret now.

The Wedding

The Italian villa we shot the video at became the place we were married.

Micah sang a solo during communion. Heidi served us. A shoot became a crew became a family.
